Origin won't open at all

I was playing Sims 2 again up until recently. Today when I turned on my computer there was a prompt for an origin update via Sims 2...again. Usually I cancelled it, but I grew tired of doing so and let it update. 
About an hour ago now, I tried to get into my Sims 3 game and Origin wouldn't open at all. Literally. Even for Sims 4.
I wound up taking out my games...all of them. 
I would like to know how to get my Origin back so I can freely install Sims 3 and possibly 4 again.
I searched for help on the same issue, but everything available was out of date. 
I have a windows 8.1 computer and the suggestions that were made don't seem to exist in my computer. I believe this may be a different issue altogether anyhow. 
Please help me.
I hope it's a solution as simple as reinstalling my sims 3 game, but at this point, I'm ready for it to be harder then that.
Not happy at all.
